Re-read the student sample essay (the one about Starbucks) and think about what the writer’s point is. Underline with a pencil all the sentences in the essay that seem to state her point or explain it. Bring this essay to class.
Also, think about what your own point is. How did your beliefs about the world, or the things you want, change through the course of your story? Could you explain what you learned to somebody else? You don’t need to write anything down, but you should do enough thinking about this that you can talk about your point during class.
